“Antiaging skin care” is a very poplar concept in todays world. Today everyone wants to hide their age using these skin care procedures (and a number of people are successful too). However antiaging skin care is not achieved by any magic potion. “Antiaging skin care” is about discipline. It is about being proactive. Antiaging skin care is retarding the aging process. Here are a few tips for proactive antiaging skin care:

1. Maintain healthy eating habits: A well balanced diet is the key to maintaining a proper body metabolism. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables (raw), they are the best source of fiber and have a very refreshing effect on your body. Avoid oily and fatty food; not only do they lack in essential nutrients but also cause obesity and other diseases which aid the aging process

2. Beat stress: This is probably the most important skin care measure. Stress disturbs the body metabolism and accelerates the aging process. Sleep, exercise and a relaxing bath, are all good ways of beating stress. Aroma-therapy is also known to bust stress.

3. Drink a lot of water: Skin care can’t be any simpler than this. Water helps in flushing out the toxins from the body, hence keeping it clean and making it less prone to disease. Around 8 glasses of water (per day) is recommended by all doctors.

4. Regular exercise is a wonderful antiaging skin care procedure. Besides toning your muscles, it also helps in cleaning the skin by flushing out the toxins in the form of sweat. Exercise should be followed by a warm shower in order to completely remove the toxins.

5. Avoid the use of strong, chemical based products on your skin. Natural skin care products are a good option. Use of organic skin care products (home made or commercial) can be a very effective measure.

6. Do not overuse skin care products. Excessive and harsh application, both are harmful.

7. Do not ignore skin disorders; it can lead to permanent skin damage. Try over the counter medication and if that doesn’t help, immediately visit your dermatologist and seek his/her advice.

8. Vitamin C based skin care products are very popular means of skin care. However, these seem to oxidize very quickly (which makes them harmful for the skin). So store them properly. If the product turns Yellowish brown, it means that vitamin c has oxidized and the product is no longer suitable for use.

9. Protect your skin against UV radiation ; UV rays are known to speed up the aging process. So, a good sunscreen lotion should be a part of your care routine.

Many of the external causes of aging skin are determined by the health and lifestyle decisions you make every day. Anti-aging skin care supplements work in complete synchronization with the body, complementing and supplying the necessary anti-aging nutritive requirements that the skin needs to remove wastes and repair itself, allowing it to maintain its elasticity and reduce the possibility of premature aging. Anti-aging skin care products that focus on rejuvenating the skin often contain high intensity moisturizers. The reason is that skin loses its natural moisture with advancing age, causing it to wrinkle and develop blemishes. Such products may also contain anti-oxidants to counter the deterioration of skin cells. Many anti-aging skin care products aim to boost the skin’s production of collagen, which promotes its elasticity and gives it structure.

A good anti aging treatment regimen can make a huge difference in the appearance of aging facial skin. Skin aging is 90% of the time due to sun damage and 10% due to genetic factors. Exercise helps keep us from aging by keeping weight down, working the heart, toning muscles, and getting the blood flowing. People who exercise look younger and feel younger. It is a most beneficial habit to get into. Anti-aging skin care products tend to approach the issue of aging from various angles. The skin is obviously the primary focus, since dull, wrinkled skin is a dead giveaway. Natural anti-aging skin care products do not contain harmful chemical preservatives, mineral oils, fragrances or other synthetic additives. This makes them far more skin-friendly. Intrinsic or biological aging is due to genetic factors. The intrinsic factors are the slow down of skin turnover, decreased collagen and sebum production. In order to be effective, an anti aging skin care guide should be very easy to follow. Let’s face it; people generally don’t stick to following detailed do’s and don’ts and, therefore, anti aging skin care treatment directions should be simple and straightforward.

In this article, I will first give a short list of tips which will help you to keep your skin stay youthful looking, and then I will give you a little bit of advice regarding your selection of skin care products.

First, let’s start with the tips:

Tip # 1: Drink plenty of water , at least 8 glasses a day. As you probably know, 70% of our body consists of water, so, maintaining that level of hydration is crucial to the health of our skin, being the largest organ of our body.

Tip # 2: Stay out of the sun, especially between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. This is the time when the sun’s UV rays (which are the most harmful for your skin) reach their strongest peak. Don’t be fooled by cloudy skies, because UV radiation can pass through the clouds, as it can pass through water as well. So, don’t assume you are safe if you are in the water and feeling cool.

Tip # 3: If you can’t avoid sun exposure, use sunscreen, but don’t overdo it. Sunscreen lotions are rated according to the Sun Protection Factor (SPF), ranging from 2 to 30 or higher. The higher the number, the longer the protection from the sun. A lotion with an SPF 15 or higher, is considered to offer adequate protection. However, sunscreens contain chemicals harmful for your skin, so be warned that long term use of sunscreens might ultimately do more harm than good. So, my advice is to use sunscreens sparingly and only if you can’t avoid exposure to the sun.

Tip # 4: Always wear protective clothing. When exposed to the sun rays, always make sure you wear a hat with a wide brim which shades your neck, ears, eyes and head. In addition, wear sunglasses which block 99 to 100% of UV rays.

Tip # 5: Avoid artificial tanning. Stay away from sunlamps and tanning beds, as well as tanning pills and tanning makeup. You probably don’t know this, so be aware that tanning pills have a color additive that turns your skin orange after you take them. This color additive may be harmful. Also, be aware that tanning makeup products are not sunscreen lotions and therefore will not protect your skin from the sun.

Tip # 6: An anti aging skin care guide would not be complete, if I didn’t mention the importance of diet. You see, a lot of damage to the skin is caused by the so called free radicals, which, in simple terms, are large molecules which damage cells in our body, including skin cells. A diet rich in dark green, leafy, vegetables such as spinach and broccoli will counteract the damage caused by these free radicals.

In addition to adhering to the above tips, your anti aging skin care treatment should be complemented with the use of a high quality skin product. In general, there are two basic criteria that a skin care product should fulfil, in order to be qualified as high quality:

First, it should contain ingredients which stimulate the generation of collagen and elastin. These are proteins which are responsible for our skin looking young and firm. When we get older, these proteins get gradually depleted and so our skin begins to sag and form wrinkles. Ingredients such as Cynergy TK found in high quality skin care products have scientifically been proven to reverse the process of depletion of these proteins.

Second, a high quality skin care product should contain ingredients with antioxidant properties, such as Nano-Lipobelle H-EQ10. As mentioned in one of the tips of the anti aging skin care guide, free radicals are responsible for a lot of the damage afflicted on our skin cells. Antioxidant ingredients inhibit the activity of these free radicals, thus improving the tone and texture of our skin.

In conclusion, these are a few guidelines on which to base your anti aging skin care treatment. If you are interested in learning more about what to look for when choosing a skin care product, please visit my website.

A Primer for New Mothers

One of the most often asked questions asked by new mothers is “what is the best way to care for my baby’s skin?” Newborn skin can be very delicate and is prone to all kinds of different issues and reactions. The guide below will provide general advice about how to properly care for your newborn baby’s skin.

Cord Care

How you care for your baby’s umbilical cord will ultimately impact how his or her belly button will look later in life. It is important to care for this area carefully in order to avoid infection. Swab the base of the umbilical cord with alcohol twice a day. Make sure you fold diapers down at the waist so the cord can be exposed to air. This helps it dry up and fall off faster.

Bath Time

Until your baby’s umbilical cord falls off, stick to sponge baths only. When it falls off completely, you can move on to baby baths. In the first couple of months, babies only need to be bathed two or three times a week. Bathing more frequently at this early stage can dry out your baby’s skin. Keep your newborn clean on days he or she won’t be getting a bath by using a warm, damp washcloth on his or her face, hands, diaper area and neck.

When bathing your baby, use warm tap water, testing the temperature on the inside of your wrist. Make sure you use only water or water along with non-drying baby soap.

Baby Lotion, Baby Oil, Baby Powder

Unless your baby has unusually dry skin, lotions and ointments won’t be necessary. Avoid putting baby oil or any type of greasy compound on your baby’s skin, as this can lead to clogged sweat glands and rashes. If you notice that your newborn’s skin is dry and scaly, you may consider using a moisturizing baby lotion. The best moisturizing technique is to apply the baby lotion right after the bath. In terms of baby powder, opt for powders made from cornstarch rather than talcum. Cornstarch is all natural, and talcum contains chemicals that can cause a severe form of pneumonia if inhaled.

Diapers & Wipes

Every time you change a diaper, use a baby wipe to clean the entire diaper area. If your baby had a bowel movement, you may require more than one baby wipe. If you have a girl, be careful not to wipe any feces into the genital opening by wiping front to back. If you have a boy, make sure you wipe carefully under the scrotum as stool can hide there.

A Final Word

Bringing home a new baby is without a doubt a very special and exciting occasion. It can also be very daunting for first-time parents who aren’t exactly sure how to care for their new bundle of joy. With these tips on caring for your newborn’s skin, you’ll be well on your way to learning the ropes of parenthood.
